What is NGC?

NGC and PCGS are the two most popular and well respected independent coin grading and certification services. *

NGC ( Numismatic Guaranty Corporation ) independently grades, certifies as genuine, and seals coins in protective tamper resistance holders (sometimes called slabs).  Of course, they charge a fee for their services.  NGC is the official grading service of the ANA (American Numismatic Association), which is the largest coin organization in the USA.

Reportedly they certify over 45,000 coins per month. In addition to grading and authentication services, NGC provides educational hobby products such as the digital imaging service PHOTO PROOF, census information of coins graded, and numismatic educational information related to counterfeits and variety coins.
