Proof Statehood Silver Quarters
Two versions of the proof Statehood
quarters were produced. One was made of the typical "clad" nickel
and copper metals, the other was made of 90%
silver and it is scarcer. They have the same design and both
contain "S" mint marks. This page lists the
scarcer silver type. These coins and sets are graded
PR-69 DCAM by PCGS (Professional Coin Grading Service). PCGS is
perhaps the most popular independent third party coin grading
service today. A grade of PR70 is
absolute "perfect". Some experts say there
is no such thing as a "perfect" coin. In fact, some grading services will not place a grade on any coin
above PF-69, one of the highest grades available. The attribute DCAM means that this coin
has a "deep cameo" mirror like surface and is exceptionally nice. Many proof coins from the US
government Mint will have microscopic flaws keeping them from meeting this
strict PR69 DCAM grade. An occasional coin will exhibit light golden
brown toning, just as it was in the original mint packaging. Each of these
silver coins has been
graded, certified as genuine, encased in a tamper resistant
holder, and assigned its own unique serial
numbers. These very high grade certified PCGS graded silver
coins are the cream of the crop. Quantities are very limited. We
