The Australian Lunar Silver Bullion Coin Series began in 1999 with the Year of the Rabbit silver coins.  Each year, for 12 years, the Australia government mint (at Perth Australia) will produce these silver commemorative coins celebrating the Chinese Calendar designs.  Design and production schedule for the twelve years is:

Minted in several sizes: half, one, two, ten and kilo.

Beginning in the year 2004 a five ounce size was added.

Gold Lunar Coins

In 1999 Australia began producing the Lunar silver series. Each year the design changes to match the Chinese Year of the Animal.   Australia is well known as a producer of silver and gold.  Their coin designs hold a prominent place as some of the most beautiful in the world.   Each year the design changes to match the Chinese Year of the Animal.  In 2005, the celebrated animal is the "Rooster".

In 2006 it is the Year of the Dog. In 2007 it is the Year of the Pig.
